Last nites concert was fantastic. The band was in excelent form and I don't think Ian missed a single note. Ian can play lije no other, I was totaly amazed at his talent, and to top it off he his one of the nicest, smartest and personable people I have ever met. I won't post the play list, it was exactly as Denver nite before last, right down to the encores. Fall Free was perfect and I let Alan know that, I beleve if I had recorded it and compared it to the CD it would be identical. I got real nervous when I was talking to Alan (after all he is that 'Man') but I did have him sign my copy of On Air. I was one of the first people to get somthing signed and he said 'Wow one of the new CDs'. My friend had the band sign his original Tales with the booklet and rice paper. If I would have thought I would have had him sign a vinal of Dark Side of the moon (mabee next year). I talked with Ian several times in length. This guy is great, he is into computers and the internet and said that he is going online soon and intends to post a email address. He also talked about sighing someones guest book and I told him that it had gotten onto the list that he had done so (sorry can't remember whoes guest book it was, probably Wesley's.). I asked Ian and Alan about the rareities section of the discography on the CD rom and they said it is a 'bug' that is comes up blank. They wanted to know if it works on Windows and I said that I haden't tried it yet, but thought that people were having the same problem on Windoze machines. Anyhow I asked Ian if there was a menu of sorts to navigate the ROM and he gave me a tip which I cannot reveal (I promiced that I would tell noone and not post it on the list, so don't even think about asking me) he said that Storm would pitch a fit if he found out that he was giving out tips on the ROM, finding your way around it is supposed to be part of the experience. I also asked Ian about the Sicilian Defence and he smiled and laughed and said it was not worth listening to as it only took them 40-45 min. to record it. I asked him if there was a tape and he said yes and that he would need to get it out and give it a listen, he said that if it was really funny they might let it out in some form. I told him that there was alot of interest in the list and fan club to hear the work. I didn't dare ask Alan, I am aware that it is a sore subject. We were back stage a good hour or more, I sort of lost track of time and I think I was in shock. Now that it is over it is sort of a let down. I want more and more, I'm addicted and I can't stop. Good thing I have a good stereo in the car to relive the experience with. Well I have to get to work (won't get much done, but I gota make a living) Later ! Barry H. It's a musical masterpiece. A nice mix of old and new songs. The sound quality was perfect. Plus Lockwood and Beckett sound *great* together. We got to meet the guys after the show, and they are *totally* laid back. You don't feel any pressure to hurry up and get their autographs and pictures and whatnot. Alan, Ian, and Stewart stayed around for upwards of an hour and a half. Ian was especially accomodating. He was fielding questions from people left and right about his song writing, guitar playing, the CD-ROM, everything. Make sure to get a good look at Stewart on the drums before the show is over because you just don't recognize him after the show. Although during the show he was wearing this bright orange cap, and he thought it might be a good idea to wear it after the show so people could recognize him... ;) Anyway, the show was awesome. Nice mix of songs. Real clean sounding. Perfect. -- Matt Smith - msmith@unislc.slc.unisys.com "Nothing travels faster than light, with the possible exception of bad news, which follows its own rules." - Douglas Adams, "Mostly Harmless" Disclaimer: I came up with these ideas, so they're MINE! The time to know Alan personally had came. A dream of all my life. When Stuart Elliot introduced me to Alan saying: "Alan, this man came from Uruguay", Alan thought that I was joking. "It's true", I said. "Oh, my God!" he claimed. I felt a few clumsy with my english and my nervous, but with the help of my perfect host and friend Karl Steenblik, it was possible to communicate with him in a fluid way. After to talk about the On Air's CD-ROM, the possibility of Alan to give a concert in my country, etc, Alan ask to Karl and me if we would like to go to the Boise concert the next day. "OF COURSE!" we answered. Then he called a man (the manager of Evening Star Productions) and said the inmortal words: "Four tickets for these guys". "Ah, to Mr. Uruguay!" said the man. Well, the next day Karl, his wife (Larisa) and me were travelling to Boise and enjoyed other concert and other backstage. I'll never forget THE EXPERIENCE. Alan showed to be a big man, not only in his height. Alejandro. PS. Nice to met Matt Smith and Barry Bryson at the backstage. --------------------------------------------------------------------- | A/P Alejandro E.
