It was, as expected, a fabulous concert and Alan pretty much adhered to the songlist posted here earlier. I would estimate about 1,500 fans gathered for this one, and it was a definite party atmosphere. What are your estimations on crowd numbers in your city? Well, for starters, compared to last year, all members had 100% more stage presence, more showmanship, more everything. It was great! As you may suspect, Ian totally stole the show! Everytime he had a solo, the crowd ERUPTED!! It was a pleasure to watch/listen to him. As a sidenote, there were some curious mishaps... Alan had trouble on some pieces being in sync with the band, and hit some off-notes. This did not, however take away from the high standard and quality of this concert. After the show, about 15 of us went backstage to meet the guys. I got to meet Lloyd who is a member of this list (Hi, Lloyd and wife!) The other guests were primarily invited by DTS. First to come to our table (that's right, these guys came to us!!) was Ian. I can only echo the sentiments of most of you...what a genuinely nice person! I told him that he "plays the meanest guitar this side of pluto" and he agreed! He signed my "on air" CD sleeve and we talked a little about the confusion of the release date. He told me that he is going to go online soon, and he very favorably mentioned wesley's home page! (These guys know whats going on, don't they?) Soon, Alan came in and promptly came over and spoke with us. I told him that I was with him since "Tales". He remarked that I must have been very young (true, early teens). But again, music of this caliber transcends age, right? He, too signed my CD sleeve and we took a couple of pictures. At this point I thought that things would probably wind down...but no! Alan had other plans!!! GLOATING TURNED ON! Alan announced that he arranged for the huge roller coaster to be turned on exclusively for the band and us!!!!! I couldn't believe my ears! Alan inviting us to ride the roller coaster! Tell me, do you think any other "Star" would be that nice to his fans? I think not! So here we went on a rather bruising ride on this murderous ride, but hey, the things we do for Alan! This was one of the greatest evening of my life, and I owe it all to Steve Martin! Steve, by allowing me to meet Alan, you have made a lifelong dream come true, I am deeply thankful for your involvement and consideration. I think I speak for all of us when I say "Thank you, it wouldn't have been possible without you" Still electrified and yours truly, Darrel :-)
