Poe first came to light in mid-1998. As the name suggests, the
musical will most likely feature material from the Alan Parsons
Project's first album,
Tales
Of Mystery And Imagination. It was originally suggested that the
musical may premiere in late 1998, and most probably in the Far East
(with Singapore or Japan being most likely). Well, the date was
clearly wrong as it is now four years later and there's still
little sign of the musical arriving!
The Far East is still looking like a likely place for the musical
to open - with South Korea leading the way, particularly in light of
recent successful runs of Eric's previous musical
Gambler there. Indeed,
while sightings of Poe on the internet are few and far between, when it
does pop up every now and again it is most often on Korean sites.
At the time of writing, there is still no solid news as to what
stage Poe is at, but what appears to be some artwork for the show
has emerged on the
CNZtv website. Hopefully this bodes well for the
opening of the show in the not-too-distant future!
