I think one of the best things that Alan ever did was his mix of the brilliant debut album by Ambrosia. Alan Parsons fans, Ambrosia self titled debut and the follow up produced by Alan "Somewhere I've Never Travelled" are SHEAR GENIUS!

I've always been an Alan Parsons fan. I am going to see him this weekend in Delray Beach, Fla. I hope to get one of my old original albums signed. Maybe the inside of I Robot.
And for anyone reading this, you should check out an old progressive band called Crack The Sky. They were popular (but never made it big) in the 70's. Used to open up for bands like Styx, Kansas, Al Stewart.

I just wanna say how great is alan Parsons and his music, once I went to an alan parsons concerte with my brother, you won't believe it, so we were sitting with my bro before the concerte, the concert was with Yes! the're good too but never like alan so we saw alan parsons in the consol main the sound and all that, so my brother old me go and talk to him I was afraid 'cause i wasn't alloud! but then I went and I go hello! Mr. Parsons and he was so good very polite, he asked where I was from I told him that I'm fron a tiny country very small country wich is El Salvador and I wasn't lucky enough 'cause I did not have a pen for his atograph b*** sh***! but it was agreat experience, I hope you al believe me I'm saying the truth, take care everyone and God the Lord bless you, bye!!

It would be nice to see a review of the rare 1979 Alan Parsons produced Lenny Zakatek album at the time of it's release at say Billboard or similar rock magazine.Lenny was always my favourite Project vocalist and would appreciate it if you guys could do that.

After a break of many years I'm finally getting back into the Project, I really am kicking myself that I have missed so much. The pleasure is hard to descibe least to say I don't think Alan has quite finished yet. Despite the departure of Eric Woolfson, I find Try Anything Once a classic APP work. I still think the unoffical theme of this to be religon and belief. Like many I am disappointed with Eve and Vulture Culture and only just take to Ammonia Avenue. It seems uncanny that I have liked most of the other Bands/ Songs that Alan has had an influence on over the years. His product always has his name on it. I was working at the record plant in northen calif./s.f. bay area when alen had his playback party for I robot.Ive been a fan of all allens music from the first time I heard tales. Ive been in the industy for over 30 yrs. from building major touring sets to recording section.I think allen is one of greatest in the feild of recording.to bad he hasnt team up with Andreas Vollenweider,Andrew powell,eric wolfson,.That would be a great project. I fell in love with the music of APP in the early eighties, it was The Turn Of A Friendly Card that really caught my ears. I was in my early teen at that time.

"A VALID PATH" is Parsons' leap into the world of electronica music, filled with poly-rhythmic drumbeats and soaring guitar solos, provided in part by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. The record's gem, "More Lost Without You", features P.J. Olsson on vocals. Another great collaboration is with The Crystal Method on "We Play The Game". Alan Parsons has released three records without the 'Project' identity behind him; his last, entitled The Time Machine, earning rave reviews, including four stars from the All Music Guide.

Parsons, an engineer and producer, worked on classic albums like Let It Be, Abbey Road, and Dark Side of the Moon, for which he earned one of his ten Grammy nominations. He emerged in 1976 as the artist behind his own group, ground breaking progressive rockers The Alan Parsons Project. The Alan Parsons Project had two Top Ten Albums, six Top Ten Singles and were awarded 3 platinum and 7 gold records by the RIAA. Their 1982 Eye In The Sky is recognized as a seminal classic rock album, and its title track reached #3 on both the Billboard Adult Contemporary and Pop Singles charts. As well as the Alan Parsons Project, Alan has also produced and engineered records for Paul McCartney's Wings, The Hollies, Ambrosia and Al Stewart, including the classic "Year Of The Cat".

Alan Parsons are a truly wonderful band whose music I was introduced to by my father at the young age of seven. I am now 22 with a baby on the way and am manically listening to Alan Parsons on my personal CD player in the hope that my daughter will love it just as much as I do.
I have had the pleasure of seeing them play live at Sheperds Bush Empire when I was 16 and no concert since has ever come close to t he feeling of pure elation. I hope to be able to witness the gods of music again sometime soon.

a cover of 'eye in the sky' to be recorded by ZAJGEP. i first heard this tune...probably when i was a kid. i discovered it while working at value village while it was being played over the intercom. im trying to listen to what is being said but couldnt make it out. but what grapsed me was the music itself; the chords, underlying melody glued to the pace. i had to ask someone else who it was. i don't know any other songs by them. that's it for me.

AP is one of my absolute favorites ever. Other is Pink Floyd.

I have one of the very original editions of Tales of Mystery (33 rpm of course), with the mummy picture in b&w.

AP performed in my city (Guadalajara) in October last year. Wonderful show, albeit different from what you are acccustomed by hearing the albums.

Hi APP fans,

I'm glad to see APP still on the road. The concert in La Coru�a was top-notch. I thought it was going to be a little bit disappointing as Eric Woolfson and other longtime band members were missing, but they coped pretty well, specially the guitar virtuoso Godfrey Townshend and that long-haired tenor Steve Murphy, who sang "Breakdown" so well I couldn't tell the difference between he and Allan Clarke. P.J. Olsson was a nice surprise, altough he seemed to be rather excited, moving to and fro in a sissy way... He nearly cried when singing "Time". Well, I guess I would have done the same if I'd been given the chance to sing that work of art.

They sang all of their most famous songs, so I got the pleasure to listen to "Prime Time", "Eye In The Sky", "Don't Answer Me", "I Robot" and all of the other great songs they've written. It lasted 2 hours, the encore being "(The System Of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" and "Games People Play". They might be old farts, but they are streets ahead of lousy phony punk-crap groups like The Strokes, and I'm not saying this because I don't like The Strokes. It just annoys me the fact that old timers play for two hours whereas these other scruffy and zonked long-haired hippy types can't last but one friggin' hour, enough to just sing some songs, leave you deaf and clear off.

The Alan Parsons Project is my favorite rock band, of course after Pink Floyd, which is one kind of Parsons� brother. It has been very hard to me to find the music of the project because they don�t usually ship to Colombia. You know, I�ve only meet two people who like their music, however I will try to stand in this higher ground that is giving me such experience hearing this awesome music.
By they way, If you like to hear, my favorite song is: In the Lap of the Gods, which gives me true electrical shocks of fascination through my body, most of them in the middle section that sounds kinda of a storm or judgement�s day. Bye.

I, ve been a mega fan of AP since listening to the Poe Album in 1977. Never seen anything related live but would love to. What a pity I live in a place where this massive talent is not fully appreciated. His work has become a keystone to the bridge of my life. So when I'm Old and Wise the memories and imagery APP has done for me will stay clear and sharp. Thank G-d for artists like the Alan Parsons Project. Over the years there have been so few bands that have tried to expand the frontiers of musical art. In my opinion the Alan Parsons Project has always been one of the leaders (along with Pink Floyd and the Beatles) in taking music to new artistic heights of beauty, sound and emotion. The Project has shown that it has never been afraid to challange people's perceptions of the common song. The Project has proven that by mixing themes with strong melodies and emotions music can be as powerful as any Rembrandt, and breath taking as any Picaso.
In doing this, the Alan Parsons Project's music will live for ever in the heart, soul and mind of loyal fans (like myself).

Alan Parsons is by far the greatest musical genius of all time in my opinion. I had the time of my life when I met Alan and Ian Bairnson after a concert( On Air tour) one night in New Mexico. He was a very nice guy to hang out with. He gladly took the time to sign autographs and pose for photos. Would like to see him tour again. Would also like to see "The Project" reunite someday. Eric Woolfson is awesome. Rock On Alan!

My mom got me hooked on the project five years ago. And I have listened to all I can. There is almost nothing I didn't like. Eve being the exception, but hey that's Alan's least favorite I hear. The Band has so much diversity it's incredible. I want to pay tribute to all of the singers, Ian Barinson, Andrtew Powell and his orchistra, and anyone else who did even the smallest thing in the project. This is Quality music and i feel sorry for those who can't appriciate it but it's their loss.

What can I say... my brothers introduced me to them when I was a kid, and since then (20 something years later) I still find this band so unique, many emotions come to place when I listen to them, there music just makes me feel good. I can't wait for there new album. I heard that Eric Woolfson is in the US trying to get some ideas for their new creation. Tip: I recorded some of my favorite LP songs into a VHS (in HiFi) this way I can still get good analog quality sound, I least good enough. This way I have 2 hours (or more) of non-stop Alan Parsons. Viva Alan Parsons Project!

A penny for your thoughts can written by Woolson and Nolan for the band Tavaras. I've got that song on a cd.

On the same cd is another song from Alan Parsons And Chris Thompson and is called You're the voice. You know him from John Farmham.

Maybe you can do something with this.

I�m an architect, and since I was studying I was amazed on how AP�s music could let me feel o.k. with my tasks. I�m an architect, and since I was studying I was amazed on how AP�s music could let me feel o.k. with my tasks. Altough I could be very busy or needing lots of concentration, the music was there and made me feel good. I was surprised to read somewhere these days,what I felt then, it was "thinking" music.

I have been writing and producing my own music for some time.
I have always used Alan Parsons amongst a few others as my touchstone for the ideas in music.
I note that there have been some harsh and maybe valid critics of the Alan Parsons Project at times, (only critics can have this luxury).
These critics have failed to hear the ideas contained within the music. Music is more than just words and sounds, it is a picture and feeling that we can construct from total experience of it.
Being a musician , I have spent many hours studying other artists including the aforementioned, as well as Peter Gabriel, Andreaus Vollenweider, Tangerine Dream and others. All these artists have their own ideas and stamp that no one else can take from them.
If I am fortunate enough, I hope to do this one day. Even if I fail I am in it for the long hall.There are lots of talened people who are never known.
I think they have proved their point , despite the critics, were not ALL fools.

...Music, poetry, philosophy, pure art. That is what I think Alan Parsons music is. Still thinking, but their live show made me realice that Money is the great thing even for the biggest artist. It was a so comercial show and I was very dissapointed when I listened prerecorded tracks of the albums versions. Was in that point that I began to miss Eric Woolfson. Alan Parsons is the technology as Woolfson is the soul and the inspiration. Long life to Eric Woolfson.

I think that I Robot should be the best album. It's songs aren't great but it is a musical experience, I think, more than the other albums.
I also like the choice of lyrics they put in the Album of I robot. They all have a link between the Theme (Robots) and the music.

Just a remark:
Lucifer (Eve), I Robot (I Robot) and
Pavane (Tales of Mystery and Imagination)
have all that same stupid noise in the backround. It's like a piano or something. I think the music would of been better with another instrument. They must of really liked the sound to have put it in three - or maybe more songs.

The best live concert I ever attended was in Portland, Oregon in 1996. Only "die-hard" devotee's were there in the small, intimate venue. Lots of singing along and mesmerizing. I cannot take the top five albums since I like all the albuns.

Conozco los discos de APP desde hace muchos a�os y considero que la mayor�a son realmente buenos. Pero desafortunadamente creo que desde que se march� Eric el nivel de las canciones ha bajado bastante. I know the records of APP for many years and I consider that most is really good. But unfortunately I believe that since Eric left the band the level of the songs has lowered enough. It is not my intention to criticize Alan, but I believe that the authentic weight of the project took it Eric and that he doesn't have the recognition that deserves.

Congratulations for the site and greetings to all the fans of APP.
By the way, my favorite song is The Tell-tale Heart. I have read the story of Poe and I find the adaptation simply brilliant.

I teach high school and whenever I get a chance to teach my American lit course, I ALWAYS include my E.A. Poe unit which culminates in listening to Tales of Mystery and Imagination. My students love it. We of course read the tales and poem beforehand, then we get a chance to hear The APP interpretation which is fabulous by the way. The students get a kick out of The Tell Tale Heart and Arthur Brown's screams. Then my students leave thinking I'm just a bit obsessed with Poe and all his neuroses. Hello to the progfans .Sorry guys , but I am young progressive fan from Ukraine (former USSR country).I am interesting in progressive music , but it is really impossible to find prog albums here , or they are too expensive. Only sometimes I can find tapes with prog or cheap piracy copies of CD , but it is very rare. I suffer affliction because it is impossible for me to listen music that I love. You are my last chance. I shall be given very much thanks if you help me with some stuff. All what is possible (old tapes etc.), if it is not difficult for you. Thanks a lot. I'm an Alan Parsons fan for almost 15 years and I'm definitely looking forward for some new releases or some 'digging in the vaults' for some live material. My choice for the best APP album? Probably it's 'Eye In The Sky', somehow on the same level with 'Pyramid'.
I also like a lot what Alan does alone and I can say I even enjoyed Freudiana or Keats releases.
I need some live recordings from the band and I'm 100% interested in any video recordings. Please contact me.

It may interest you to know that most of the work on the 'Alan Parsons' projects was actually done by Eric Woolfson -
The modest Scotsman Was behind the Original idea and music but being shy, needed a frontman, who he found in Alan Parsons...

Will this site list any upcoming tour dates (should we all be blessed with this event)? His (their) concert at the Beacon Theatre in 1996 with Kansas (as the warmup act) for me will be one of the best concerts I ever went to. I waited 19 some odd years (2nd longest to the 27 years I waited for John Fogerty) and it was well worth the wait.

I would see him (them) again one other time, when they warmed up for Yes (I believe in 1998) at Jones Beach in NY. This was disappointing as although in surround sound, they opened about 20 minutes prior to what the concert stub indicated, and although punctual, I missed the first 3-4 songs (estimate). To this day I wonder what songs were played that I missed. Not being a Yes fan, I wandered Jones Beach that night disappointed how this had happened (additionally they lost one of their two singers - this look I thought gave them tremendous appeal in the 96 concert). Would you know the song list that was played that night by chance? Thank you very much and best regards. -- Jim C. --

Since I have heard the Eye In The Sky-single on the radio and bought the album "The Turn Of A Friendly Card", I am a big fan of Alan Parsons (Project). It is a pity, however, that Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson do not work together anymore. A little bit of the magic has gone. Nevertheless I am still listening often to their music and Alan Parsons (Project) will remain my favourite group of musicians. There is no doubt about that!

I have for a couple of years been debating with controllers, producers and presenters at BBC radio re. the need for Rock music to be given greater coverage.

Via your website + print-based newsletter please can you invite your fans to join the RockOnRadio debating facility? There are 3 aspects :

1) BBC Radio 1.5, raiders of the BBC archives!

Until mid-November 2000 the BBC has a "public consultation" for licence payers to complete a questionnaire indicating whether or not they approve of the aim for launch in 2001 of 5 new digital radio services. Radio 1.5 is a working title for the service featuring music and performance styled somewhere in between that played on Radios 1 and 2. The main content is to be archive sessions, concerts, interviews and album tracks that formed "the best influential music from the 1970s to the present day". Also proposed are new interviews with musicians talking about their work + presenting features.

If fans want contemporary coverage for their favourite Rock musicians, they need to specify it in space provided on the questionnaire. It's available by telephoning 0800 011 011 (free call, within UK). Having consulted the public to help tailor their manifesto, the BBC will forward the proposal to the British government's Department of Culture, Media and Sport. Assuming the Secretary of State gives the go-ahead, Radio 1.5 may be available as early as next April via digital radio, the Internet and digital satellite. Radio 2 is available throughout the UK (88 - 91FM), via satellite well into Europe, and world-wide online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/ and presenters now include Nicky Horne, Johnnie Walker, Bob Harris, Steve Wright. Radio 2's online message board welcomes posts from fans who wish to join the thread titled "Rock show needed for Radio 2". Word is Rock currently is excluded due to a belief women don't enjoy Rock on radio. Fans who know different can enlighten the Beeb! Very few people take the trouble to influence radio broadcasters. Perhaps it's not fully realised the BBC, as a publicly-funded facility, does adjust services according to majority opinion. Each individual communication is generally taken to represent the opinion of 200 members of Radio 2's seven million listeners across the UK + extras via the 'net.

Alan Parsons has made some of my favorite music. However, I recently purchased 'The Alan Parsons Project /
The Definitive Collection' and I must say, it's extremely overpriced. I paid $57 (Can), after tax for the 2 disc collection.
And it wasn't worth it. A lot of good stuff was not on it. I don't buy that it's just my view. And the same collection is $74 (Can),
before tax, at Towers. No wonder they, along with record companies, are being taken to court by a number of American
States for scamming. Then again, That's exactly what capitalism is all about.

Great site, Alistar! The work you've put into it really shows. I've been a big fan from the beginning with TOMAI. You could've knocked me over with a feather on the day I got that first letter from Steve@The Avenue telling me about tour dates.TWENTY YEARS after hearing that very first note!! Absolutely worth the wait. No doubt about it.

One of the other 'guests' made the comment about wanting to go to London (?) and be able to see Alan and crew work with the orchestra. If that ever happens, I'd do whatever I could get away with to get there. Even if I have to beg and borrow. I can always find a way.

I am a British ex-pat living in China. I have been an APP fan since the early 80's. I brought to china 6 APP cds and all my Chinese friends have been ttoally sold on the band.
However, I cannot get hold of any new APP material or find cds in China. Any help? Anyone else in china into APP?

Nice site. Ive liked Alan Parsons ever since Time (Turn of A Friendly Card) was released I was probably 12 or so ever since then I was hooked. With out a doubt one of the best bands in the world. A strange fella Alan is I wish eric woolfson was still with them though. A voice knowone could ever have. Dont Answer Me, Nothing Left To Loose, Sooner Or Later, Closer To Heaven, I could go on all night Some Of my favorites Dont forget Eye in The Sky, and the brightest star before it LOL the best instrumental and song combined in the world Thank you Jason

I fell in love with Alan Parson's music in the early eighties. First with "The Turn Of As
Friendly Card", and then very quickly as I found he had other albums out, "I Robot,"
"Pyramid", "Eve", Anyway I spend probably 12 hours a week or so listening to His
music. As far as I know, I have all of His albums. My favorite song is "Siren's Song" on
"Try Anything Once". But I only found "On Air" recently. I am disappointed that not hardly
any of the music sites on the web have Alan's music. So far I have only found "Free Fall"
on the Miramar Record site. Thank you for this Forum Mike Farnsworth..Colorado .
