Andrew Powell And The Philharmonia Orchestra Play The Best Of The Alan Parsons Project

From the liner notes...
Andrew Powell, who has been an integral part of The Alan Parsons Project since its inception, has at last made his own album. It's a rare treat to hear the music we know so well interpreted totally through his ears and with the help of such a fine orchestra. Best of luck.
-- Alan Parsons & Eric Woolfson

This was an album produced entirely by Andrew Powell. Although Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson did not take part in the album, many other regulars such as Ian Bairnson, David Paton and Stuart Elliott were involved. All of the tracks are instrumental and, for the most part, orchestral.

A recent rerelease came with an alternate cover, and a rather more manageable title ("The Alan Parsons Project Played By Andrew Powell").

After an exhaustive search, I found that CD Banzai carries the CD for only $13.98... just thought I'd pass my experience on to others who may be looking for it.

I happen to know Andrew Powell rather well and I can tell you that the Alan Parsons Project would'nt have anything if it were'nt for him. He wrote over half the material "Mr Parsons" claims to write and "Mr Parsons" mimes in all of his concerts anyway!

Many Thanks

Mr X (close relative of Mr Powell)

The first CD version of this album was released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) in 1983. However, it has been out of print for about 20 years and is now considered a rare collectors item.

Wow! We have this CD and it is a fabulous production/performance. Our CD shows it as EMI Records Ltd. (CDP 7 46006 2). Manufactured in West Germany. I was trying to add it to our Delicious Library for Mac Database when I found how rare it was. Here is a link through Amazon listing 3 sellers offering sale from $159.99 - $229.99. We received a box of classical CD's from an Estate, this CD was among them.
